We're working to be (close to) net zero with extensive energy efficiency upgrades -- insulation, HVAC, electrical, and more. Sustainable features of the project include a rooftop solar PV system, geothermal heating/cooling, and an electric vehicle sharing program.
Affordability
The greater Madison area, and especially the Isthmus, has been rapidly gentrifying over the past decade. This project will increase the number of units of affordable housing and ensure that they remain affordable for years to come.
Cooperative Living
Madison has a rich tradition of housing cooperatives. We aim to increase the amount of cooperative housing available in Madison, while also increasing the diversity of types of cooperative housing. The finished project will have eleven rooms and four "suites" -- apartment style units with 2-5 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchenette that will be intentionally inclusive of families. Two rooms will become the first ADA-accessible cooperative housing in Madison. Three rooms will be reserved for young adults experiencing housing insecurity.
